What is functional medicine?
Functional Medicine is a system based medicine that provides an explanation of underlying mechanisms and root causes of health challenges and/or disease. Functional medicine practitioners do not suppress or “bandaid” symptoms, but address the underlying issues and root causes. Each disease may have many factors including the individual’s genes, lifestyle (nutrition, exercise and movement, sleep, stress, and relationships) and environmental. Functional medicine determines how and why the illness occurs and restores health by addressing the root causes for each individual to promote optimal wellness.
What is functional medicine health coaching?
Functional Medicine Health Coaching is a personalised approach focusing on the client’s health challenges and co-creating goals with the client by self-discovering their personal vision and values. Our health coach:
Informs and educates you by helping you understand your doctor’s plan of care;
Offer the tools and accountability you need to implement the new lifestyle changes;
Builds your awareness in nutrition, exercise and movement, sleep, stress, and relationships;
Guides you through dietary changes, food plans, and exercise and movement protocols;
Motivate you through positive psychology techniques;
Coaches for prevention, recovery and rehabilitation. Proactive living at its best.
Functional medicine coaches are more than happy to work with the client’s healthcare practitioners (medical doctor, dietitian, nutritionist, mental health practitioner and physiotherapist) to successfully optimise their health and lifestyle goals. We are not replacement of your healthcare practitioner.
